Richard Briggs
Richard Briggs qualified as a barrister in 1976. Until 1982 he worked in the company secretarial department of a large group of companies before moving to Trafford Park Estates PLC, a quoted property company, where he stayed until its takeover in 1998. By the time of the takeover he had been Deputy Managing Director for over ten years with responsibility for all legal matters, group finance, commercial and corporate affairs and human resources.
Richard then became an independent business adviser and in 2003, at the same time as being a part time director and company secretary with a family owned group of companies, joined the team at Hargreaves & Co. Working in all areas of the firm’s business, he has provided a client orientated service to individuals, small businesses and companies and specialises in all types of residential and commercial property work, together with the acquisition and sale of businesses. Taking on the Law
Building company boss Alan Casserley got into a bitter battle over an unpaid bill of £23,000, owed, he claimed, for work carried out at the home of a litigation expert. The dispute had dragged on for months, until he engaged the services of Hargreaves Mounteney Solicitors, who drove the processes forward swiftly and vigorously. “The shadow of the court-room’s steps weaved its characteristic magic over our opponent ,” said Jonathan Mounteney. “Although our client did not achieve all that had been originally claimed, nor even everything we thought they were entitled to, a favourable settlement was achieved avoiding the stress and inconvenience of a trial, that dealt with our costs in a manner that did not prejudice our client.” Said Mr: “Casserley: “There seemed no way to get to grips with our former customer. Outrageous allegations were levelled at my company, and our reasonable assertions treated with contempt. “Hargreaves Mounteney Solicitors shifted the pressure-points, bringing our opponent kicking-and-screaming to the table. They helped us come to terms with minimum fuss - and also entered into the arrangement by compromising their costs. If I needed to litigate again, then I’d want to do it with Hargreaves Mounteney Solicitors.” In addition to commercial disputes, Hargreaves Mounteney Solicitors covers most areas of legal processes, specialising in drafting contracts, with particular expertise in supply contracts for computers and IT solutions, or supplies using computers and IT, such as internet sellers. “It is all part of a one-stop-shop service to cover all our clients’ legal needs,” said Jonathan, “including litigation and employment tribunal work.”
