SOLICITOR APPRENTICE (LEVEL 7 LEGAL APPRENTICESHIP)

Employment Type: Full-time or substantial part-time (weekdays).

Location: Heald Green, Bramhall, Cheadle, or Hazel Grove (Manchester area).

The Role: Mounteney Solicitors is seeking ambitious and shrewd students to join our Solicitor Apprenticeship program. This route combines a Law degree (LLB), the SQE, and the required qualifying work experience into a single, employment-based program.

Partnering with the University of Law, we offer you the opportunity to qualify as a solicitor without the debt of the conventional route. In fact, rather than paying for your education, you will be paid to qualify.

Our main practice areas are residential and commercial property, estate planning, and general commercial & corporate work, including commercial litigation.

The Program Structure:
The apprenticeship lasts six years, requiring full commitment to a career in law.
  • Years 1–4: You will work as a Paralegal across three of our main practice areas: property (residential and commercial), estate planning, and commercial/corporate work. Under the supervision of experienced practitioners, you will develop essential legal skills and assist with live client matters.
  • Years 5–6: You will transition into a Trainee Solicitor role, taking on increased responsibility and more complex work as you prepare for final qualification.
Why Choose This Route?
The government and the firm cover the majority of your tuition and exam costs—your focus remains on working hard, passing your exams, and gaining elite practical experience.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Good academic record
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Proficiency in I.T.
  • Work Experience, especially relevant work experience

Eligibility:

To apply, you must:

  • Be predicted at least BBB at A-Level  (or equivalent)
  • Have 7 GCSE’s (Grade 5+ in English and Maths)
  • Have been based in the UK during the last 3 years
  • Hold the permanent right to work in the UK
  • Be eligible for level 7 apprenticeship funding
  • Not already hold a university degree
  • Live within a 45 minute commute of our offices

Any offer we make to support applications to the University of Law depends on candidates also subsequently satisfying the University of Law’s separate admission requirements – your application to us is only one half of the full application process, both parts of which must be fulfilled.

How to Apply: To apply for an apprenticeship please send your CV to elliot@mounteney.com asking for an application form. There is no particular application deadline, but be aware of a significant lead-time between application and ability to commence the program – usually no less than 6 months prior to each January and September cohort admission date.

Note for Agencies: We are not accepting applications from recruitment agencies at this time.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUESTS

Many schools and universities encourage students to seek work experience in the legal profession.

Unfortunately, we have found through experience that it is impossible for us to offer valuable student work placements – due to our relatively small size, widely-spread office locations, work/client types, and product structures. We greatly appreciate your interest but recommend applying to larger, more centralised firms.
