Anna has been dealing with the sale of my late father's property. She has always been professional and extremely effiecient as well as having empathy for my situation. What should have been a simple and quick sale morphed into delays and chain issues. Throughout this, Anna has been supportive and encouraging leading to a successful outcome. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mounteney as they have guided my family through will making, probate and house sales with care and support.
Cannot recommend the cheadle practice enough. The service provided was excellent, and staff, especially Katie was a credit to the company. Anyone using the cheadle office would definitely be very well looked after.

Apostille Solicitor

Whether you’re planning on travelling on business or for a well-earned holiday, buying a property abroad for moving overseas for work, you should be aware of the potential need to verify documents such as passport copies or employment letters. Any doubt over the authenticity of such documents could cause delays and maybe even the cancellation of your plans.

You can avoid such issues by getting an apostille certificate and stamp, which can be presented as official government verification that such documents are authentic. Provided acceptance by both countries, the apostille will be sufficient to remove the need for further certification.

Whatever your reason for needing apostille, you can count on Mounteney Solicitors for a quick and affordable apostille service. Simply call one of our offices or fill out our contact form to arrange an internationally-recognised apostille.

What is an Apostille?

An apostille is a certificate and stamp issued by the government to officially verify a document’s authenticity. Such verification is accepted by members of the Hague Apostille Convention (including countries such as the United States, France and Spain). It will be vital if you’re planning on studying or working abroad. Your identity might also have to be verified for immigration and legal proceedings.

If there’s any doubt over the need for an apostille, you should check whether any countries you plan to visit are members of the Hague Convention (you can confirm this with a quick Google search). If this isn’t the case, then you might require embassy authentication. It’s also worth checking whether the government office of the destination country requires the presentation of an apostille.

Although they might both be presented for the same purpose, there are differences between the apostille and notarisation. The notarisation applies to domestic and international documents and involves having a notary public or other authorised official verify the authenticity of a signed document. The apostille process is generally simpler and more standardised, with notarisation involving some steps based on the country or region’s demands.

Why choose the Mounteney Solicitors Apostille Service?

As SRA-regulated solicitors with Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) recognition, Mounteney Solicitors offer the assurance of a first-rate apostille service. This service can be provided either in person, from our offices in Stockport and Cheshire, or remotely. As Commissioners for Oaths, we can normally arrange for same-day apostille certification, allowing for legal approval by the FCO. However, we encourage you to get in touch to confirm such availability.

Established in 2005, Mounteney Solicitors have experience in processing the apostille of:

  • Court documents
  • Academic certificates and qualifications
  • Passports and driving licences
  • Birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates
  • Employment letters and P60s
  • Contracts, agreements and resolutions

Taking a professional, friendly and accessible approach, Mounteney Solicitors offers advice and services that are unsurpassed in the legal sector. This applies as much to our apostille service as to our legal protection of property and finance. It’s reflected in the five-star Google Business reviews we’ve received, with clients commenting on everything from our legal knowledge to our politeness and clear communication.

How does the Apostille Service Work?

The apostille service begins with the checking and verification of any documentation that you’ve provided. This might mean contacting a university for verification of an academic certificate, a doctor for verification of a birth certificate, etc. With such verification, one of our solicitors can sign and attach a certified copy or cover sheet as appropriate.

The next step will be to present the document to the UK FCO for application of the apostille. This will depend on the cross-reference of the document against the FCO’s database of signatures and seals. If the signature can’t be verified, the FCO may contact Mounteney Solicitors to confirm our approval.

The entire process typically takes around two working days, with the certified and stamped documentation being securely returned.

How Much Will it Cost?

Committed to economic fixed fee terms, we charge a standard price of:

£100.00 + VAT = £120.00 inc VAT plus a Government fee of £45 for each document apostilled.

Your supplier will be the SRA-regulated Mounteney Solicitors, with VAT charges that may be reclaimed in some instances.

Don’t let document verification cause the delay or cancellation of your travel plans. Get in touch for a reliably smart and professional apostille service.
